Matt Tarney

Matt Tarney manages Eden's solar installations from start to finish, working with clients, subcontractors and the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to get each system built and connected. Since joining Eden in 2023, he has taken around 20 projects through to completion.

The question clients ask him most is about the shutdown: how long it will last, and whether all their equipment will start up again afterwards. Matt's answer is that a planned shutdown is a chance to carry out maintenance on kit that never normally gets switched off. He also tells them that Eden will schedule it overnight, at a weekend or whenever it causes the least disruption to the business.

Before Eden, Matt spent 13 years as an electrical engineer and designer at BT. He uses that grounding throughout the job, from reading single-line diagrams and schematics to cable connections, installation practice and witness testing.

Outside work, Matt and his family are keen sea swimmers and take part in beach clean-ups. He also plays rugby and coaches youth rugby at Withycombe RFC.
