The Challenge
Sofina Foods, one of Europe’s leading food producers, has made sustainability a cornerstone of its operations. At its Haverhill site, the company faced a dual challenge: reducing its carbon footprint while improving long-term financial resilience. With rising energy costs and increasing pressure to meet ESG targets, Sofina needed a solution that aligned with its environmental values without compromising operational efficiency or requiring upfront capital investment.
The Solution
Eden Sustainable partnered with Sofina to deliver a bespoke solar PV system under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, an approach that required zero upfront cost and no debt on Sofina’s balance sheet. Leveraging Eden’s end-to-end expertise in commercial solar, the project was designed, funded, and installed with minimal disruption to operations. Eden’s in-house team managed every aspect, from planning and legal to grid connection and construction, ensuring a seamless experience.
The system, sized at 1 MWp, was tailored to meet the energy demands of the Haverhill site, with south-facing panels optimally angled for maximum solar capture. Eden’s transparent and collaborative approach, combined with its proven track record and shared sustainability values, made it the ideal partner for Sofina’s green energy transition.
The Outcome
The solar installation is projected to save Sofina over £107,982 annually on electricity costs while delivering 238 tonnes of CO₂ savings per year.
