The Challenge
The Senator Group, the UK’s leading furniture manufacturer, set an ambitious goal in 2021: to become a Net Zero business across its UK manufacturing sites. With high energy demands and rising costs, the company needed a solution that would deliver significant carbon reductions, long-term financial resilience, and align with its sustainability commitments, without compromising operational performance.
The Solution
Eden Sustainable partnered with Senator Group to deliver rooftop solar PV systems across three of its sites, totalling 1.87MW in capacity. Unlike PPA-funded projects, this rollout was privately funded via capital expenditure, allowing Senator to fully own its solar assets and maximise long-term returns. Eden provided expert guidance throughout, from feasibility and design to installation and commissioning, ensuring each system was optimised for performance and seamlessly integrated into the group’s operations.
The Outcome
Senator Group now generates clean energy on-site, reducing reliance on grid electricity and avoiding an estimated 263 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. The systems are projected to save the group approximately £374,343 per year in energy costs, with further installations planned across additional sites. By owning its solar infrastructure, Senator benefits from full control, long-term savings, and enhanced sustainability credentials, demonstrating Eden Sustainable’s ability to deliver high-impact, client-owned solar solutions at scale.
“This project has been a huge investment in Sustainability from the business, and we have been lucky enough to work with fantastic solar partners. Eden Sustainable and Imperial Advisory have brought expertise, been a great support and provided an excellent service - we are over the moon at how the solar is performing at the moment and the project looks stunning!”
