The Challenge
Pure Pastures operates from Mount Pleasant Farm in Manningford Bruce, in the heart of Wiltshire’s Vale of Pewsey. It’s a busy working site, with barns for hay, straw and livestock and a steady flow of vehicles in and out through the day.
By 2022, rising electricity prices had become a real pressure on the business. Pure Pastures wanted to take control of that cost and cut its carbon footprint, using the roofs of the farm buildings it already had.
The Solution
Eden Sustainable designed and installed a 130 kWp rooftop solar PV system on the farm’s buildings. Pure Pastures funded the project itself as a capital investment, so it owns the system outright and keeps every pound of saving it produces.
Eden managed the full project, from design and the grid connection application to installation and commissioning, with the work planned around a farm that never stops. The system has been generating since summer 2023.
The Outcome
The system now saves Pure Pastures around £30,000 a year on electricity and avoids 27 tonnes of CO₂ annually. For a rural business, that’s a significant cut in one of its biggest overheads, and a measurable reduction in the carbon behind its work.
Because the system is self-funded, every unit generated on the farm is protected from future rises in grid prices.
