The Challenge
Peerless Plastics, a specialist in high-performance plastic manufacturing, faced rising energy costs and growing pressure to reduce its carbon footprint. With a large roof space and high daytime energy usage, solar was a natural fit, but the site presented a unique challenge: persistent bird activity threatened to foul the panels and reduce system performance. Peerless needed a solution that was financially viable, technically sound, and operationally resilient.
The Solution
Eden designed and installed a bespoke rooftop solar PV system, funded entirely through its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, meaning Peerless incurred zero upfront costs. To address the bird issue, Eden deployed the Scarecrow 180 system, a humane and effective deterrent that prevents nesting and fouling without harming wildlife. Eden’s team managed every aspect of the project, from feasibility and planning to installation and commissioning, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
The Outcome
Peerless Plastics now benefits from clean, low-cost solar energy at a fixed rate significantly below market prices, delivering immediate savings and long-term price certainty. The Scarecrow 180 system has successfully mitigated bird-related risks, protecting the integrity and performance of the solar array. This project showcases Eden's ability to deliver tailored, high-quality solar solutions that overcome real-world challenges, environmentally, financially, and operationally.
