The Challenge
General Electric’s Whetstone facility required a forward-thinking energy solution that aligned with the company’s global sustainability objectives while delivering meaningful cost savings at a local level. Rising electricity prices and increasing corporate pressure to reduce carbon emissions made it essential to find a partner capable of delivering a high-performance solar system, without impacting operational continuity or requiring significant capital investment.
The Solution
Eden Sustainable worked closely with General Electric’s facilities team to design and implement a bespoke solar PV system tailored to the site’s energy demand and infrastructure. Through our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, we were able to deliver a fully funded solar installation, enabling GE Whetstone to benefit from renewable energy generation without any upfront costs.
Under the PPA arrangement, Eden Sustainable owns, operates, and maintains the solar system, while General Electric purchases the clean electricity it generates at a discounted, fixed rate. This provides both immediate cost savings and long-term energy price stability. Our expert team handled every stage of the process, from detailed technical design and DNO liaison to installation and commissioning, ensuring seamless delivery with minimal disruption to GE’s operations.
The Outcome
The completed solar PV system now provides General Electric Whetstone with a dependable source of clean, low-cost electricity, significantly reducing grid dependency and carbon emissions.
