The Challenge
Brindleyplace is a well-known mixed-use commercial estate in the heart of the city, home to offices, hospitality venues, and leisure destinations. As with many urban developments, rising energy costs and increasing expectations around environmental responsibility presented a clear challenge. The management team wanted to demonstrate that even smaller renewable energy installations could play a meaningful role in reducing operational costs and carbon emissions. The goal was to introduce a solar solution that could maximise available roof space, deliver strong financial returns, and support the estate’s broader sustainability ambitions.
The Outcome
Eden Sustainable designed and installed a 31kWp commercial solar PV system tailored to the building’s available roof space and energy usage profile. Although modest in scale compared with large industrial installations, the system was carefully engineered to maximise efficiency and onsite energy generation. By integrating high-efficiency solar panels with the existing electrical infrastructure, Eden ensured the system would deliver reliable renewable power while supporting the estate’s sustainability objectives.
The Results
Despite its relatively small size, the installation delivers strong financial and environmental performance:
Annual energy savings: Approximately £28,500 per year in reduced electricity costs.
Carbon reduction: 5,106kg of CO₂ saved annually, helping lower the estate’s environmental impact.
Efficient use of space: Maximising available rooftop area to generate clean energy within a dense urban environment.
This project demonstrates that commercial solar PV systems do not need to be large to deliver significant value. Even smaller installations can provide meaningful cost savings, measurable carbon reductions, and a practical step toward more sustainable energy use for commercial properties.
