On International Women’s Day 2025 (Saturday 8th March), we embrace the theme “Accelerate Action”—because gender equality cannot wait. At Eden, we’re proud to celebrate the women on our team and in the renewable energy sector who are leading the charge towards a more sustainable and equitable future.
While we may be small, our collective impact is mighty, and we are committed to taking tangible steps toward a more inclusive world.
This year’s theme, Accelerate Action, challenges all of us to speed up progress in achieving gender equality. As we
A Brief Look Back: Equal Pay and More
It’s been over 50 years since the Equal Pay Act of 1970 was passed in the UK, a landmark moment in the fight for gender equality. While progress has been made, the gender pay gap still persists in many sectors, including renewable energy. We know that true equity requires action at every level, from policy to day-to-day operations.
The time is now to accelerate action on gender equality. At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum.
We can’t wait another 50 years to close the gender pay gap, ensure equal opportunities for women in leadership roles, or address the barriers that hold back women in male-dominated fields like renewables.
That’s why we’re proud to have women across our business, contributing in meaningful ways to our work and mission. While we recognise there’s more progress to be made, we celebrate the diversity of thought, expertise, and perspective that women bring to every aspect of our company, and we are committed to creating more opportunities for women to thrive in all areas of the business.
What Can We All Do to Accelerate Action?
To truly move the needle on gender equality, we all have a role to play. Here’s what we can do today, tomorrow, and every day to accelerate action and make gender equality a reality:
Raise Awareness and Educate: Start conversations about gender equality in our workplace, community, and networks. Share articles, resources, and initiatives that highlight the importance of inclusive work environments, especially in industries like renewables where women are underrepresented.
Support equal pay: Our commitment to pay transparency means that we regularly assess our compensation practices and conduct pay audits to identify and address any discrepancies. We believe that fair pay is essential to creating an equitable and inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive.
Commit to Inclusive Leadership: Companies can accelerate action by promoting women into leadership roles. We’re committed to ensuring that women have equal opportunities to lead and contribute at every level of our business. By supporting women in leadership, we’re building stronger, more resilient teams.
Foster Allyship: Men and women alike must be allies in the workplace. By challenging gender bias and stereotypes when we see them, we can create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Take Action in Your Community: Whether through volunteering, donating, or speaking out for gender equality, we all have the ability to support organisations and initiatives that uplift women’s voices and empower future generations of leaders.
